  • Work

    It's 9:37 pm.
    Husband is still at work.
Has an hour commute when he finally does leave the office.
He left at 6:00 am this morning.
Yet the world thinks executives live an easy life.
    Right.

What my daughter and I did this morning..... almost 100 pounds of peaches picked.
Guess who will be canning tomorrow.....

Yum Yum.  I tried canning peaches once.  It was a fiasco.  I don't think I had the right variety as they didn't peel easy after blanching.  Good luck.

I can almost smell them the picture is so beautiful.

Enjoy your sticky sweet day! I remember your youngest daughter eating home-canned peaches during a visit here. She ate a whole quart and drank the juice too! I am sure she will be helping you :)

I love canning peaches! When we lived in WA, we used to buy them at the orchard for 35 cents per pound! I prefer to peel/cut mine rather than do the boiling water thing, so my favorite was Red Haven.

We used to get apricots for 30 cents per pound and pears for 25 cents! Apples were just everywhere - I don't think we ever paid for those.  When we moved back to the midwest, I was shocked to see that apricots cost nearly $3 per pound!  Sometimes I stop and sniff them - just for the memories! - but I can't afford to can things anymore. :(   Maybe someday....
