I joined Xanga on April 1, 2004. Not sure that I have a lot to show for the nine years….
My daughter says I need to write political again. It’s more interesting. lol
I don’t have the stomach for it anymore. I basically am so disgusted by our government and the direction it is going.
This disgust moves over to my homeowner’s association. I am on the board of directors for the HOA and it is amazing to me how much the residents want the HOA to do for them. It is as though they don’t even want to be responsible for their own property! Take care of me! Take care of me! They asked at the last meeting… “what have you done about the burglar?” Well first off, WHAT burglar… and if you are talking about the one robbery in the neighborhood last November… uh, we are not the police. The sheriff’s department increased patrols while the burglaries were taking place in the area…. and I personally got a security system. What system did you go with? Uh… no, they want the HOA to hire a private guard. Well folks we don’t have 4,000 a month for a personal guard and you would scream if we raised your HOA fees to cover it.
And don’t even get me started on the community pool.

NINE years? Wow! How’s this for a weird coincidence: I started my Xanga on April 6, 2004. Five days after you. But you’ve been much more faithful about writing than I have. My last post was over two years ago. I do have a new WordPress blog: www.txmom2jami.com I don’t write as frequently as I should there, either (probably because I’m on Facebook too much), but I’m working on getting better. Stop by and read it sometime — I like WordPress much better than Xanga now. ;)
@TXMom2Jami - I used WordPress for the mission blog that I did when I was in Uganda. I do like WordPress better as far as tools and the way it all worked together. Did you know that Xanga was the hottest thing on the internet in 2003 or thereabouts? It was one of the first blogging sites. They just haven’t kept up with the times though I think. Kind of odd really. After them came blogger and that is where a lot of it all took off, the name connected with the purpose. Xanga just doesn’t connect with much in my mind. I stay here because… well I don’t know why other than people know I’m here and I feel obligated
But so much of Xanga seems trite and juvenile in content. Seems the serious writers moved elsewhere. With a name like Xanga no wonder. lol
And I have read your scribble shutterbug blog is your txmom one a different one?
The http://www.txmom2jami.com is the “Scribbler/Shutterbug” blog, but I let vanity get to me and I paid the annual subscription to have my own URL . . . LOL! I had done a “scribbler/shutterbug” blog on Blogspot, but I decided to switch to WordPress because it seemed like the serious bloggers were using it.
So to get the most current, if not frequent posts, go to the http://www.txmom2jami.com site. Hahaha!
@TXMom2Jami - Good thing your daughter is named Jamil. Otherwise it would be a bit awkward.
@TXMom2Jami - lol. JAMI. I have no idea how Jamil got there.
LOL!!!!!!
